Italian artist Pompeo Batoni

Meanwhile, at Houston's Museum of Fine Arts, long-forgotten works by Italian artist Pompeo Batoni "the prince of painters in 18th century Rome" are celebrated in style, now through January 27, 2008. This is the first exhibition of the master's works in 40 years and a rare chance for art lovers.

The Batoni exhibit travels to London where it will be on view at the National Gallery from February 20-May 18, 2008.

Pompeii Exhibit

Pompeii, Tales from an Eruption is playing at The Birmingham Museum of Art now through Jan. 27. The exhibit features 500 artifacts from Pompeii and the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. including room-size frescoes, precious jewelry, gladiatorial armor, statues and more.
